VALE’S NAILS NAIL BAR

OPENING TIMES: Every Monday from 4-6.30pm

ADDRESS: Ten Grand Arcade, North Finchley, N12 0EH

Last year we launched a our second Nail Bar, ‘VALE’S NAILS’  in partnership with Peabody housing association – for the residents living on and around Strawberry Vale Estate, East Finchley. The pilot project was such a success thanks to the hard work and commitment from the residents and staff, it went on to win a TPAS award for excellence in youth involvement! So after a few months off, our doors are open again, but this time from a new location- an empty shop in North Finchley.

The community nail bar model is our way of engaging with females who need support; last year the project provided over 57 local females the opportunity to learn about professional nail care, design their own nail art, and run pop up nail bar events for other women in their local community and gain recognised qualifications. It is open to females of all ages: offering free manicures, training and a safe space to socialise. Aside from creating amazing nails, we also provide one-on-one mentoring, support with personal issues, housing concerns, homework, CV’s, and provide access routes into education, employment, and training.

“We need to keep Vales Nails, it’s really important because young girls like me can easily access the qualification and support here….there is nothing else around here, now that I’m not at school or college I don’t know what to do.”  Kelly-Anne, 17

WHO CAN GET INVOLVED >> Females of all ages can access the project and use the nail bar to get their nails done for free. Our training and mentoring programme is aimed at females aged 12-30. We are looking to work with young people who would like support in gaining new skills and who would value support from positive Role Models.  We work one-on-one with participants to support their personal development, identify barriers and action their goals. ART AGAINST KNIVES is experienced at working with young people at risk/ or caught up in violent crime by developing the confidence and resilience to navigate their own lives independently and positively.
