The weekly sessions have been attended by over 80 females, who are learning professional nail care, designing their own nail art and running pop up nail bar events for other women in their local community.  In true AAK style, we don’t want to do the talking….the girls keep their own blog and instagram account Follow the girls journey HERE.

Aside from creating some serious nail art the Nail Bar also provides a safe space, one-on-one mentoring, help with personal issues, and support into education, employment and training.

We have recently started to take the nail bar out on ‘professional’ visits to other communities, youth centres, and corporate businesses. This gives us the opportunity to introduce professional business skills, encourage positive communication, improve customer relations, and introduce work-ready skills. In October half term Universal Music opened their doors and invited us to ‘pop-up’ at their offices in Kensington….

Dollis Dolls is one of the projects delivered as part of our ‘In Our Hands’, a community based programme of projects and workshops designed to prevent young females from becoming victims and perpetrators of violent crime. We utilise current trends and work with local residents to design activities and safe spaces to encourage interaction between young girls and women. We target pathways to crime such as substance use, violence, and premature sexual activity, by encouraging the development of positive personal characteristics.
